Healthcare

The UK has agreements with some countries to provide a certain level of healthcare to those nationalities while in the UK. Often, this only covers emergency medical care. You should always ensure that you have the right insurance to cover the full period of your visit to the UK.

The healthcare agreements below may not cover some healthcare related costs and are not an alternative to healthcare insurance. If you are travelling from a country that is not included in the agreements below, then your healthcare insurance must be able to cover you for any unforeseen healthcare costs.

EU and EFTA Citizens

EU and EFTA Citizens The UK and EU have an agreement over reciprocal healthcare provision. Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) will remain valid in the UK. Citizens of European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries may not be covered. EFTA countries includes Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

Non-EU Citizens

The UK also has reciprocal healthcare arrangements with a number of countries outside of the EU. Each arrangement will have its own limitations and will be specific to each country.

Covid-19

Covid-19 has disrupted how we work locally and globally. Covid-19 restrictions can be implemented and lifted quickly, and you should monitor the situation whilst you plan, and continue to monitor regularly up until the date you travel. When planning your creative visit to the UK, you should factor in additional time and contingency funds for unforeseen implications caused by Covid-19. For example, Covid-19 testing can be expensive, and should you become infected by Covid-19, you might need to quarantine, which could mean significant additional costs. If you are travelling to the UK as part of an organisation, or you are a host organisation based in the UK, it might be useful to implement a Covid-19 policy which will apply to everyone in the travelling party. Be aware that airlines and other modes of travel may also have their own restrictions to comply with. You should also be aware of any Covid-19 regulations that might be in place for the country you will return to, or the country you will visit after you have been in the UK. Be aware that airlines and other modes of travel may also have their own restrictions to comply with. You should also be aware of any Covid-19 regulations that might be in place for the country you will return to, or the country you will visit after you have been in the UK.

Some guidance related to Covid-19 is devolved across the 4 UK nations: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. You should ensure you are aware of the regulations and restrictions in place in the country you arrive in, and any additional UK nations you plan to visit.
